Pianist Ilya Friedberg, has been described as an “Artist who puts his listener to a musical magic” by pianist Menahem Pressler. Ilya’s music has taken him to Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Jerusalem Theater, Small Philharmonic Hall of St. Petersburg, and various venues across the United States, South America, Israel, and Europe.
As a young boy, Ilya has always been curious about how things work, he took them apart, put them together. This study of mechanics and electronics transferred to music. Without formal piano lessons, Ilya taught himself piano by observing his mother and his siblings’ lessons.
Ilya is a pianist who crafts his performances, he invites the audience to a world of sonic beauty, the beauty of the form and color.

Ilya has been promoting new music and has commissioned over 18 new works from composers around the world. Ilya has performed with the members of Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Menahem Pressler, Jamie Laredo, David Baker, Carol Vaness, Timothy Noble, Mark Kaplan, Alissa Margulis, Alexander Buzlov, and Pacifica Quartet who described him as an “Exceptional chamber musician and pianist”.
Currently, Ilya is working on his new albums; “Variation Project” & “1st and 2nd Vienesse love affair” & “Goldberg Variations”. As well as the project to record all music of Douglas Hofstadter. Ilya is a Master-Class Artist Teacher at the Adamant Piano Festival, and the Sonad Chamber Music Festival as well as the Music Institute of Chicago. Ilya has given masterclasses and judged international piano competitions at; Indiana University, Roosevelt University, Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Stellenbosch International Piano Competition. Ilya’s teachers are Vladimir Ashkenazy, Menahem Pressler, Sanford Margolis, and Luisa Yoffe.
